The name, Bay Life of South Alabama, was created in 2023 by Jason Shay and Rachael Hood, and at its essence, Bay Life of South Alabama encompasses a whole way of life for anyone who has lived or traveled to South Alabama. Anyone who has spent an extended period of time here knows we are surrounded by several bays in South Alabama including popular spots such as Mobile Bay, Bon Secour Bay, Weeks Bay, and Wolf Bay. The bays are an important way of life on the Gulf Coast in Alabama that should be celebrated all year long. 

Rachael was born and raised in Mobile, AL and spent most summers in Point Clear, AL. She spent much of her summer days in Mobile Bay whether swimming and water skiing or shrimping and fishing with her dad in the late afternoon. Jason was born just outside of New Orleans but moved to Mobile in middle school, and he has also discovered a love of the Mobile Bay area. Jason and Rachael met in 2013 at Mary Anne Beach which is unique because three of our bays (Mobile Bay, Bon Secour Bay, and Weeks Bay) meet together at Mary Anne Beach. In 2023, we came up with the idea of Bay Life and created the Bay Life of South Alabama logo. Then, we trademarked our logo in the state of Alabama in order to share Bay Life with others. 

As many others who celebrate Bay Life, you might find us out and about in our boat exploring the bays and taking time to cool off at local cold holes, tubing with family, or grabbing a bushwacker at a local eatery. Please feel free to say hello or "cheers" when you see us.
